The Qualities of Biblical Leadership (1 Timothy 3:1-13)

A. It is good to aspire to be a church leader because it is a worthwhile work for the Lord.

B. The Qualities of an Overseer/Elder

1. Above reproach
2. Marital fidelity – “husband of one wife.”
3. Sober-minded, self-controlled,
4. Able to teach
5. “manage his own household well.”

C. The Qualities of a Deacon

1. Deacons “likewise” – having the same qualities as Elders
2. Must be tested.
3. Wives or Deaconess?

 Application

• Character first
• Require effort and self-discipline.
• Dependence on God (2 Corinthians 12:9)
